Curriculum / Roblox Luau

Roblox Luau.

Plenty of good developers wrote their first line of code trying to make a part disappear in Roblox. We’re not going to be snobby about that — it’s a real language with real consequences.

first project
A part that kills you (politely)

Why this one

The feedback is instant and physical: you write a line, something in a world moves.

Luau is close enough to Lua that everything you learn transfers to a dozen other places.

Honest status

Not written yet. Outlined, argued about, and high on the list.

What it looks like

example.luaudraft snippet
1local part = script.Parent
2
3part.Touched:Connect(function(hit)
4 print(hit.Name .. " → done")
5end)

The first eight lessons

outline · will change
  1. 01Scripts, and where they’re allowed to live
  2. 02Parts, properties, and changing them
  3. 03Variables and the workspace
  4. 04Loops that don’t freeze the game
  5. 05Events — the thing Roblox is actually built on
  6. 06Functions and clean-ish code
  7. 07Touching, damaging, respawning
  8. 08Making it multiplayer-safe

Project at the end

A part that kills you (politely)

A glowing block, a touch event, a respawn, and a leaderboard counting how many times you’ve embarrassed yourself. Small, silly, and completely yours.
